The wait is over. Microsoft’s Surface Pro tablet is set to hit Aussie stores on May 30, with pricing starting at $999.
The entry-level model comes equipped with 64GB of flash memory. A more expensive version, coming in at $1099, packs 128GB.
Surface Pro buyers will probably also want to stump up either $149.99 for a Type Cover – essentially a cover with moving keys – or $139.99 for the Touch Cover, which has a membrane-style keyboard.
Powering the Surface Pro is an Intel Core i5 processor. This stands in contrast with the consumer Surface RT tablet, which uses an ARM processor (similar to a smartphone processor). The use of ARM means the Surface RT is unable to run common Windows applications. Instead, it relies on custom apps available from the Windows Marketplace.
The Surface Pro will be available at the Microsoft Store, Harvey Norman and JB Hi-Fi.
