Enterprise software vendor SAP said it has named Simon Davies as president of its newly-created Asia Pacific region.

Davies replaces Paul Marriott who returns to Europe after five years in the role.

As the president of SAP APAC, Davies will oversee more than 31,000 employees across 78 offices in Australia, Greater China, India, Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia from the company's regional headquarters in Singapore.

Davies brings 25 years of technology industry experience in the region, most recently serving as senior vice president and general manager of Asia Pacific and Japan at data platform company Splunk.

His previous roles include positions at Microsoft, Salesforce, and Oracle. He serves on several pre-IPO technology company boards and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

"Our next chapter is being fuelled by accelerated cloud and AI innovation, underpinned by our purpose, our people, and our partnerships," Manos Raptopoulos chief revenue officer for APAC EMEA and MEE said.

SAP's regional customer base includes major corporations like NEC, Coles Group, Wipro, Fujitsu, Shiseido, Hyundai Motor Company, and Japan Airlines.
