Samsung teases Windows 8 tablet

Samsung has released an image of its upcoming Windows 8 tablet on Facebook in preparation for its launch at the German IFA trade show this week.

The device is expected to be a tablet - laptop hybrid with attachable keyboard dock and touchpad, via a magnetic hinge.

The image was posted Samsung’s Facebook page with the caption “ready to be smart?”, appearing similar in design to the company’s Series 5 Hybrid, unveiled in June at Computex.

The 11in device is shown with the Windows 8 interface, and is expected to run on an Intel chip with the full Windows 8 rather than Windows RT. It is also expected to include 8MP rear and 2MP front cameras.

The release of the image follows Samsung’s posting of a teaser video last week.

The German IFA trade show began earlier this week and will wrap up on September 5.

It’s not the only tablet in Samsung’s line-up. The company is also reportedly working on the 11.8in “P10” slate, a device expected to be a true iPad rival thanks to its retina display-matching 2560x1600px screen and Exynos 5 Dual processor.

Apple’s iPad fits 264ppi into a 9.7in display, while the P10 is expected to include 256ppi into the larger 11.8in screen. Samsung claims its Exynos 5 dual-core chip is twice as fast as the current A9.
