"The recent rumours that Samsung Electronics will be taking over Hewlett-Packard Co.'s personal computer business are not true," the South Korean electronics giant said on its Samsung Tomorrow blog.
"We hope this clarifies any confusion that may have occurred."
The rumours stemmed from a Tuesday article by Taiwanese hardware pulse, DigiTimes, which claimed sources said Samsung was seeking a Taiwanese supplier to outsource its notebook manufacturing to, with additional claims it was eyeing HP's PC business.
Meanwhile, if any company were to buy HP's $40 billion a year PC business, its current executive vice president and former Palm CEO, Todd Bradley, has said he would like to stay.
In an effort to quell rumours that he was seeking an exit from HP, Bradley told CNBC that if the Personal Systems Group were spun out, "it would be my intent to lead that."
"If it stays within HP, I plan to continue to run it," he said.
