Samsung has today launched two new smartphones, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, at MWC in Barcelona.
As expected, the Galaxy S6 is a standard smartphone, while the S6 Edge has a curved screen, meaning the display covers not just the main panel but both sides as well - a feature first seen on the Galaxy Note Edge.
Both the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge come with a 5.1in quad-HD Super AMOLED display (1440 x 2560) which, according to Samsung, can put out a maximum brightness of 600cd/m2 on a bright day with auto-brightness enabled.
On the inside, both sport Samsung's own quad-core Exynos processors and have 3GB RAM. In terms of storage, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are available in 32GB, 64GB or 128GB versions.
Both the smartphones come with a 16-megapixel rear camera, which is the same as the Galaxy S5's, although the front-facing camera's resolution has been upped from 2-megapixels to 5-megapixels.
In terms of connectivity, both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge come with 802.11ac Wi-Fi, 4G, NFC and Bluetooth 4, all of which are pretty standard for flagship phones these days.
One slight disappointment is the size of the battery, which has been reduced from 2,800mAh to 2,600mAh, which makes us worry a little about battery life.
The Australian release date and prices are not yet known. The phones will be available in the UK on 10 April.
