Samsung was one of the first PC vendors to show off its Windows 8 range of devices earlier this year, and today announced the availability of the laptop/ tablet hybrid model in its new Ativ range, the Smart PC.
The consumer Smart PC and business-focused Smart PC Pro will arrive this month from $899 and $1349 respectively.
The Windows 8 Ativ range also includes the Ativ S smartphone and Ativ Tab tablet. The Ativ S will be available in early December through Optus exclusively, and will also be available to purchase outright from Samsung’s experience centre and major retailers for $799, including Harvey Norman which is currently offering pre-orders for the phone.
Samsung is yet to announce availability for the Ativ Tab.
The 11.6in Ativ Smart PC and Pro run on Windows 8 and have Windows 7 functionality, with a detachable keyboard that acts as a dock when in laptop mode.
The business-focused Pro boasts an Intel Core i5 chip, 4GB RAM, 256GB SSD, is 3G compatible, and has USB 3, USB 2, mini HDMI and microSD ports. It has a 1920 X 1080 display, 2MP front and 5MP back cameras, as well as the S-Pen stylus and 5 hour battery life.
The Smart PC Pro comes in black, while the consumer-focused Smart PC is available in light blue.
