Samsung has elected to appeal a recent court order that has effectively banned the Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet from sale during its court battle with rival tech firm Apple.

In other news, Samsung achieved 500 per cent year on year growth in smartphone shipments during the last quarter, with the company on track to overtake Apple in smartphone sales, according to analysts.
Apple is also tipped to be mounting a lawsuit against Motorola for its Xoom tablet.
