Rimini Street to provide Salesforce support for University of Melbourne

The University of Melbourne's Mobile Learning Unit (MLU) said it has chosen Rimini Street to provide support and enhancement services for its Salesforce-based eLearning platform, replacing a previous support partner.

Who the previous support partner is was not disclosed.

The higher education institution selected Rimini Solutions for Salesforce to maintain and develop the platform that serves as the core system for student access, case management, and reporting across its online courses.

"Salesforce is integral to our operations. If it were to go down, it would impact student access to courses and our ability to manage support issues," Pat Violo, program office manager at MLU, said.

MLU provides end-to-end learning solutions for education providers, including course creation, instructional design, learning management system hosting, and learner support.

The unit identified maintaining deep Salesforce expertise as a key challenge in keeping their platform running efficiently.

"One of our key challenges was retaining a deep Salesforce knowledge base to implement best practices and keep the platform running as efficiently as possible," Violo added.

"That's where Rimini Street came in to fill the knowledge and resource gap," Violo said.

Rimini Street will provide both managed and professional services for the university's customised Salesforce environment as it is certified to do so as a partner.

The decision followed what the university described as a rigorous selection process, with MLU conducting internal risk assessment and speaking with several existing Rimini Street clients before making the switch.

"What we learned was that Rimini Street provides cost-effective, high-quality support which draws on global expertise and a vast resource network, making them a strong partner, well-positioned to support our complex Salesforce environment," Violo said.

With the initial stabilisation of systems complete, MLU plans to engage Rimini Street to help evolve its offerings, with the goal of expanding course sales and its full learning management system solution.

"While many Salesforce partners specialise in managed services or professional services, our ability to provide both capabilities sets us apart in the industry," David Rowe, Rimini Street's chief product and marketing officer said.
