RIM hands free PlayBooks to Android devs

After numerous price slashes, RIM has finally decided to give away its BlackBerry PlayBook for free. The catch? You have to be a developer and convert your Android app for use on BlackBerry's App World.

RIM hopes that this move will bolster the roster of apps available for PlayBook users – which compared to iOS and Android offerings, is scarce to say the least – but will it be enough to entice people to pick up the BlackBerry PlayBook 2?
