Ricoh Australia has appointed Simon Lane as country manager for the production printing systems business.

The appointment sees Lane take on the entire Ricoh production portfolio, including digital cut sheet, wide format, continuous feed and software solutions. He will be accountable for sales results and drive the production print business' success long-term.

Lane's print background includes 12 years with Fuji Xerox across a number of senior sales and marketing roles. He also led PMP Limited-owned book printing startup Dbooks.

Prior to joining Ricoh, Lane was chief executive of account-based marketing firm Spitfire Group.

“I’m thrilled to join Ricoh,” Lane said. “This company has fantastic solutions, great people and an absolute commitment to meeting customer needs. We’ll stay focused on client outcomes and, most importantly, reinforce print as a compelling and enduring communication medium.

“In the past two years, most of my work with clients has been to help them develop compelling value propositions, so they can differentiate themselves in competitive markets. This work has left me in no doubt that print providers have a valuable role to play in the modern marketing mix.”

Ricoh Australia managing director Andy Berry said Lane would bring a wealth of experience to the business.

“We are delighted that Simon has joined Ricoh," Berry said. "His skillset and experience of both growth companies and large multinationals will be invaluable as we drive our revenue growth and enhance momentum for Ricoh as a leading player in the production printing market,” he said.

David Phillips, general manager for sales of Ricoh Australia, said: “Simon has worked in the digital print industry for more than 15 years, both on the vendor and client side, and has unique insights into how Ricoh can best support our production printing customers."
