Reseller Inside Info has beat 12 other applicants to land a Melbourne Health government contract to deploy 80 QlikView business intelligence licenses.
Chief of staff and project director of Melbourne Health Anna McFadgen said QlikView was the clear winner because it is so “user friendly”.
"None of them that we saw were as user friendly or as intuitive," McFadgen told CRN.
"The tender was very well contested. We had more than 12 applicants."
McFadgen could not reveal the value of the deal, but she said operational efficiencies were already visible just 10 weeks in.
"We now have access to real-time information that is intuitive and user friendly, with sophisticated analyses and information taking only seconds to access. Our clinical managers already have increased visibility into the performance of their units."
McFadgen claimed that the success had led to "a lot of interest from several other health services”.
"The market is very significant in the health sector," she added.
QlikView vice president of the Asia Pacific Phillip Beniac agreed, claiming the overall Australian market is ripe with business intelligence opportunities for resellers.
"We believe this user-driven business intelligence space is a very, very large market in Australia. The current BI market is still a very small percentage, at around 5-10 percent. But it's growing two to three times faster than other regions."
Australian channel partners account for most of QlikView's business, Beniac told CRN. "Worldwide over 50 percent comes from the channel, and In terms of the Asia-Pacific, it's close to 85 percent."
"When we started 10 years ago in the region, it was 100 percent channel. The solution lends itself to a channel model very easily."
