The headquarters has a number of training facilities, a research and development centre, strategic marketing centre and technical support services.
According to Adele Beachley, regional director, APAC for RIM, the company has developed a strong operation in Australia over the past six years and the new regional headquarters will foster its innovation and growth.
She said each month, together with its business partners, it will be expanding its reach winning customers with the BlackBerry Bold, BlackBerry Curve, BlackBerry Pearl and BlackBerry Storm.
"We are not providing a device but an end-to-end solution. We have just shipped our 50 millionth BlackBerry handheld and RIM celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, so the timing couldn't be more appropriate.
"I joined RIM six years ago with one carrier monochrome handheld device. We have come a long way since then and we plan to grow the local team in Australia."
The regional office was unveiled by Thomas MacDonald, Consul General of Canada and attended by dignitaries from the NSW Government, North Sydney Council and RIM partners and customers.
