Melbourne reseller Remora Technologies has signed up to distribute UltraSPARC products from Nature Worldwide Technology (Naturetech) to customers in Australia and New Zealand.
Robert Silver, chief executive at Remora Technologies, said the Melbourne Sun reseller had signed an exclusive agreement with Naturetech to resell the latter's UltraSPARC products.
UltraSPARC is a Sun range of processors.
"We are committed to supporting business, government and defence with portable UltraSPARC solutions, and forging this relationship with Naturetech helps us extend our reach within this market," Silver said.
He said Remora was focused on selling mobile Unix offerings to Australasian customers. Naturetech designed and made portable UltraSPARC products.
Naturetech already had a strong presence in Australia and New Zealand but the new agreement would reinforce that, Silver said.
"With Naturetech's extensive product line, we are able to offer an excellent range of options," he said.
Naturetech had portable UltraSPARC products ranging from an entry-level single processor 777S notebook for $4195 to the "mammoth" Proso 2000 dual UltraSPARC 1.28GHz portable server with 16GB of RAM, Silver said.
Naturetech also designed and made SunRay thin clients, he added.
Support would be provided locally in both Australia and New Zealand, Silver said.
Remora sells infrastructure and services to SMBs and government in Australia. Its portfolio included hardware procurement, software licensing, infrastructure solutions, application development, e-business solutions, professional services and support.
Taiwan based Naturetech was founded in 1998 to make Solaris- and SPARC-based portable products. It was also a certified high-end Unix system supplier, the company said.
