Enterprise Linux vendor Red Hat has announced a leadership move, with Garry Gray transitioning from senior director and head of ecosystem for Australia and New Zealand to a broader regional role overseeing ecosystem co-creation and marketplace across the Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ) region.

In his new position, Gray will focus on fostering collaborative innovation within Red Hat's partner ecosystem, addressing critical challenges facing the technology industry, particularly workforce skills shortages.

As part of the transition, John Nelson will assume leadership of the ecosystem team in Australia and New Zealand.

Nelson, who has been with Red Hat for nearly seven years, was personally selected by Gray to continue driving the region's ecosystem strategy.

The move reflects Red Hat's strategic commitment to ecosystem collaboration, with Gray emphasising that partner ecosystems are key to helping customers navigate emerging technological landscapes.

His new role will concentrate on catalysing co-creation through open collaboration, multi-partner solutions, and innovative marketplace strategies.

Gray believes marketplaces are evolving beyond transactional platforms into comprehensive service delivery channels.

"We are in a new era of technology being redefined - the AI movement, the transforming capabilities of automation, and a new frontier at the edge," Gray said.

"As skills shortages widen, organisations must find ways to get the most out of these promising technologies," he added.
