The Queensland government has committed $750,000 to help local manufacturers identify and implement artificial intelligence solutions, delivering the programme through the Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing (ARM) Hub.
The Queensland Manufacturing AI Uplift trial programme will work directly with eligible businesses to find practical AI applications aimed at improving productivity, strengthening competitiveness and building workforce capability.
Expressions of interest are now open for Queensland manufacturers seeking to participate.
Minister for Manufacturing Dale Last said the state's manufacturers were well placed to benefit from AI adoption.
"Queensland manufacturers are already leading in innovation, and this investment will help more businesses put AI to work on the factory floor," Last said.
ARM Hub chief executive Professor Cori Stewart said the programme would give manufacturers practical support to turn AI's potential into measurable business outcomes.
"For many manufacturers, the challenge isn't understanding that AI presents an opportunity - it's knowing where to start and how to apply it in a way that delivers genuine value to their business," Stewart said.
"Through the AI uplift program, ARM Hub will work directly with manufacturers to identify practical applications for AI that can improve productivity, strengthen competitiveness and build workforce capability."
Earlier this year, the Queensland government announced an expansion of its $11.5 million micro-credentials program, with six new courses to be introduced by 2029, including courses on AI, procurement and cyber security.
