The Queensland Government is looking to slim down the handful of partners that provide services underpinning its state-wide travel and and traffic information system from five to one.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads wants one integrator to provide the range of services that fall under the state’s 131940 traffic and travel information system.
The services are currently provided by five partners — hosting provider Melbourne IT, solution provider Integral Technology, NZ-based Datacom, geospatial software vendor deCarta and reseller QIT Plus.
The services span infrastructure hosting, support and maintenance, mapping and GPS, as well as data feeds from local Queensland councils.
The department wants just one integrator that can offer software development, system support, vendor management and hosting services.
The 131940 traffic and travel information system was built on a customised Kentico CMS Version 7 Ultimate.
It provides information to the public on traffic and road closure related to events, traffic cameras, traffic and travel alerts, road incidents, flood maps and roadworks.
It consists of a map view website, quick info website, RSS and GeoRSS feeds, search functionality for location and route, and integration with social media.
