Telco PowerTel launched a business-grade wholesale VoIP service to be sold via channel partners.
The wholesale VoIP service will enable wholesale partners to leverage its private network and was part of a $10 million investment to expand its network.
Powertel marketing manager, Glenn Christensen, said the telco is delivering voice products over its private network.
“Traditionally our channel partners were selling data products like our VPNs. They can now target businesses that want to make voice calls over a private network and not through public Internet," he said.
PowerTel would ensue the security of the calls customers make through its network. This will help deliver full offerings and not just cheap calls to businesses, said Christensen.
“Traditionally Telstra has been the supplier for all business calls now customers have more choice.”
PowerTel wholesale partner, Amityone Network, said the launch of PowerTel’s VoIP platform would enable the company to offer a flexible carrier-grade voice and data network to its customers.
Amityone MD, John Serpanos, said VoIP is no longer an emerging technology but a critical business tool.
