Werck BV has signed an exclusive deal with supplier MonstaPOS for the Australian distribution and support rights to the Checkout point of sale system for Mac.
MonstaPOS, owned by My Mac shop owner Steve Bardel, will trade as Checkout Australia.
Checkout is a point of sale application for small businesses and is owned by Werck BV, the same company that owns MYOB for Mac, a joint venture between SOFA & Acclivity.
Bardel told CRN that up until now the application was sold in the US and Holland. A Canadian launch was planned for next week.
"The company is today officially launching it in Australia. For the retailer it's great, for the Mac business, it's great, they can now sell something that will be locally supported.
"It's a really simple application. Every small business can now run a Mac point of sale," he said.
Werck BV claimed the system allowed up to 20 Macs to be connected on one network. It integrates with MYOB AccountEdge.
Bardel said Checkout Australia will distribute it to resellers and end-users.
"We're looking for resellers around Australia now. Resellers can be anybody including accountants," he said.
Bardel said for under $2000 a retailer can buy the Checkout licence which includes a cash drawer, barcode scanner and receipt printer.
"With MonstaPOS, we're partnering with an Australian organisation that not only has experience with retail software and hardware, but expertise specific to the Mac platform." Werck's Scott Davisson said.
