Perth Azure, AWS & Google partner Tape Ark expands to Los Angeles

Perth-headquartered tape to cloud migration firm Tape Ark has opened a new branch in Los Angeles that will focus on helping media and entertainment companies.

Founded in 2017, Tape Ark specialises in migrating legacy tape-based data to the cloud for clients in the media and entertainment, healthcare, mining, education and research, and government sectors.

The Amazon Web Services, Azure and Google Cloud partner handles a variety of data from medical imaging to satellite photos and geological data to TV series and movies, and has grown to have an ingest capacity of two petabytes per day.

With the new branch in Los Angels, Tape Ark now has nine locations across Asia-Pacific, North America and the UK.

The company said the media and entertainment sector is its fastest-growing market and has collaborated with several Los Angeles-based studios over the last couple of years.

The new Los Angeles branch will enable closer collaboration and shorten project times for its existing customers in the city, Tape Ark said.

“The opening of this new branch in LA is an exciting new chapter in the story of our company," Tape Ark’s CEO Guy Holmes said.

"For several years we have been providing the bridge between on-prem media production and cloud streaming for major film studios, though looking back now this was just the beginning."

"Being closer to the studios will let us take on more work and continue to deliver great results for our clients.”

In July 2023, Tape Ark partnered with Equinix to transform its digital infrastructure to improve performance of its migration services and meet local data sovereignty needs.
