Oracle's New Zealand MD John Eastman has made the decision to retire in January 2026 after more than 17 years at the cloud technology company.
Eastman first joined the business in 2008 as technology sales director, before rising up the ranks to take on the MD role for NZ in 2020.
Prior to Oracle, Eastman worked at the likes of IBM and Sun Microsystems, as well as external consultant for Westpac.
"It’s been an incredible journey working alongside our passionate team, amazing customers, and partners to help shape Oracle’s presence in New Zealand," Eastman said on LinkedIn.
"I’m proud of how far we’ve come and excited for what’s next as Oracle continues to lead the way in cloud and AI innovation globally and here at home."
Jason Langley, formerly the MD of Ingram Micro in NZ, is set to take over at the start of next year.
"Jason brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective, and I look forward to working closely with him over the next six months," said Eastman.
"For now, thanks to everyone who’s made this role so rewarding and to a sample collection of great Oracle managers and supporters."
Langley says 'multicloud enabler' positioning attracted him
Prior to his 11 years at Ingram Micro in NZ - where he took over as MD in 2020 - Langley also worked at HP, Enprise Solutions and Terabyte Interactive.
Since leaving Ingram in April 2024, Langley has been working as a Fractional CxO, leveraging his business, sales and marketing leadership experience to help small, medium and large businesses with their business management, structure, governance, strategic planning and sales and marketing management needs.
"There’s strong momentum behind Oracle globally, and here in New Zealand we’re seeing that come to life through wonderful partnerships, like the one we enjoy with TEAM Cloud New Zealand, who are delivering sovereign, hyperscale cloud services, powered by Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, for customers including Inland Revenue NZ," Langley said on LinkedIn.
"One of the key things that attracted me to Oracle is how the company is uniquely positioning itself as a multicloud enabler, giving its customers choice and meeting them where they are in their digital transformation journey.
"Also uniquely appealing is how Oracle is bringing AI to the data, embedding it across every layer of the stack — from infrastructure to applications — making it easier for organisations to unlock the value of their data, streamline operations and move faster.
"Over the next six months, I’ll be working closely with John Eastman to ensure a smooth and thoughtful transition. He’s built a strong foundation here, and I’m looking forward to learning from him and to working alongside our incredible team, customers and partners."
