Optus is extending enterprise-grade NBN services to its wholesale customers with the addition of Ethernet over NBN and access to Evolve Internet and Evolve IP VPN.
The telco offers layer 2 and 3 wholesale aggregation to all 121 permanent NBN points of interconnect. Optus said the new offerings complemented its Evolve Ethernet WAN services, which were announced in December last year.
The new services will be supported by fibre to the premises (FTTP), fibre to the basement (FTTB) and fibre to the node (FTTN) technologies. Optus said the new products would cater to data and IP-heavy needs such as video conferencing, WAN, private VPN networks, internet access and cloud-based services.
Optus Wholesale vice president of sales and marketing John Castro said there was increasing demand for more business and enterprise products available on the NBN.
“This new technology means Optus Wholesale can deliver wholesale partners enterprise-grade data services over the NBN network in addition to our existing fibre and copper networks to deliver more reach and flexibility,” Castro said.
Optus said it was also developing an Evolve Voice product to be delivered on Ethernet over NBN.
Earlier this year, Optus bolstered its NBN offering by announcing it was one of the first wholesalers to offer hybrid fibre co-axial (HFC) NBN access to wholesale customers.
