We already know that the Windows 8 public beta is dropping in February, but according to Pocket-Lint's Microsoft source, October 2012 will be the most likely release date for Microsoft's next-gen PC and tablet OS.
The Microsoft spokesperson was reported as saying that October was "a good guideline to consider," as Windows OS releases roll around every three years or so. This October will mark three years after Windows 7 launched.
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and numerous other manufacturers have already stated that Windows 8 will be released this year on devices including the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga (video here) – and October is a good a bet as any for a release date.
