HPE is providing a bespoke artificial intelligence platform to 2degrees, a Vocus-owned telco that operates in New Zealand.
The platform is built on HPE Private Cloud AI, which was co-developed with NVIDIA, to provide 2degrees with a “sovereign, unified and flexible” platform that can allow for agility and scalability, while keeping critical customer and operational data on shore.
Initial use cases for the platform will relate to telecommunications network optimisation, including autonomous network operations, predictive maintenance, and capacity planning.
2degrees chief technology and information officer Stephen Kurzeja said the company has already seen strong results across multiple areas.
"For example, local AI is a critical enabler for AI-driven network operations with multiple local AI agents moving us toward a smarter, more resilient, and increasingly self-driving network that better serves customers across New Zealand,” he said.
Future plans for the platform include accelerating the development and release of new products and features and improving customer experience.
HPE NZ managing director Colin Henderson said the product is the result of combining local expertise with HPE’s innovation.
“By deploying HPE’s turnkey AI factory, 2degrees is setting a benchmark for how New Zealand organisations can use AI responsibly – accelerating transformation while maintaining full control over their data,” he said.
