NVIDIA expands AI infrastructure push with Australian data centre partners

NVIDIA has announced a broad expansion of AI infrastructure capacity in Australia, partnering with eight local data centre and cloud providers to host multiple generations of its DSX AI factory platform - with a stated target of up to two gigawatts of buildout by 2027.

The participating providers - Firmus, Sharon AI, IREN, Megaport, ResetData, CDC, NEXTDC and AirTrunk - will operate the AI factories under the arrangement, with NVIDIA supplying its DSX platform, accelerated computing, networking, software and ecosystem support.

NVIDIA DSX is a full-stack AI factory platform spanning facilities infrastructure, computing, networking, software and reference designs. The company said the platform is compatible with the NVIDIA CUDA ecosystem and is designed to be enhanced through software over the life of the infrastructure, extending asset life and supporting a broad range of workloads.

Each partner is committing to different elements of the buildout.

Sharon AI is deploying up to 68,000 NVIDIA GPUs connected with NVIDIA Quantum InfiniBand and Spectrum-X Ethernet networking, while Megaport is expanding access to accelerated computing through its wholly owned subsidiary, Latitude.sh, targeting inference workloads for enterprise AI customers.

ResetData is building AI infrastructure for enterprises, government and research customers requiring Australian data residency; CDC has developed AI-ready data centre infrastructure across Australia and New Zealand with direct liquid-to-chip cooling to support high-density workloads and NEXTDC has developed AI-ready infrastructure designed for high-density AI factories.

AirTrunk is expanding AI-ready powered shells across the region with direct-to-chip liquid-cooling, Firmus is expanding its Project Southgate initiative to support hyperscale and AI-native demand across Australia and Asia-Pacific and IREN is combining NVIDIA's DSX architecture with its own expertise across power, land, data centres and GPU deployment.
