NTT Com expands Vietnam, Singapore operations

Japanese telecommunications giant NTT Communications has announced plans to build data centres in Vietnam and Singapore under a strategy to expand business in Asia.

NTT Com has an existing data centre in Vietnam's Hanoi and will launch a data centre in Ho Chi Minh City in the third quarter of calendar 2011.

The Singapore data centre will begin operating in the first quarter of calendar 2012.

NTT Com expects to upgrade its ICT offering and services for multinationals with multi-hub operations in Asia, the company said.

Katsumi Nakata, executive vice president, Global Strategy at NTT Communications, said NTT is targeting the Asian market, "which is expected to account for 40 percent of the global economy in 2030.

Last week NTT Com's parent company, NTT acquired South African systems integrator Dimension giving it a foothold in Africa, the Middle East and Australia.

NTT Com's spokesperson said this announcement is unrelated to the Dimension data acquisition by its parent company.
