Australia is among the target countries for a partnership between Japanese systems integrator NTT DATA has partnered with French generative AI company Mistral AI.

The two companies are planning to jointly develop and sell private enterprise-grade AI solutions.

Mistral will provide the large language models that underpin generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), while NTT provides its services portfolio, global delivery capabilities, industry experience and customer base.

The companies will deliver end-to-end solutions designed to be sustainable and secure for use in high-demand areas, such as financial services, insurance, defence and the wider public sector.

The models and solutions will operate within clients’ private cloud infrastructure.

An initial focus will be on integrating Mistral’s products into NTT’s customer experience platforms for call centre solutions within Europe and the Asia Pacific region.

A joint announcement of the partnership said they may co-develop LLMs for specific languages to meet the needs of local markets.

Australia has been named among a list of countries that will be targeted with a regionally tailored go-to-market strategy for the services.

“By collaborating with a global leader in digital transformation like NTT DATA, we will bring our next-generation AI solutions into real-world business," Mistral AI chief executive Arthur Mensch said.

NTT Data chief executive and chief AI officer Abhijit Dubey said the collaboration with Mistral aligns with NTT’s goal to positively impact society through responsible innovation.

“By joining forces with Mistral AI, we will harness the power of high-performing AI models combined with NTT DATA’s comprehensive AI capabilities, including our Smart AI Agent Ecosystem," said Dubey.

"In doing so, we can assure secure, scalable and sustainable deployments for enterprises across the globe.”
