NSW government appoints Mark Lenzner to head up IT procurement

The NSW government has appointed Westpac’s Mark Lenzner as executive director of ICT procurement, taking over from interim director Shae Howard.

Lenzner replaces Tony Ritchie, who left to become the Department of Finance, Services and Innovation’s (DFSI) chief information officer, according to a report from iTnews.

As part of his role, Lenzner will lead NSW’s IT procurement, initiating procurement reforms and modernising the procurement platforms like eTendering.

“His experience and history of achievement will be a great addition to what is already a talented ICT and Digital Government team, which is delivering quality digital services for the people of NSW,” NSW chief information and digital officer Greg Wells said.

At Westpac, Lenzner was responsible for the management of the end-to-end sourcing lifecycle, strategy development and execution, strategic sourcing, supplier governance, as well as commercial and contract management.

Prior to Westpac, Lenzner worked at Qantas and Commonwealth bank in various strategic sourcing and supplier management roles.

In his previous roles, Lenzner built an ecosystem of channel partners, including Dell, IBM, Infosys, NetApp and Telstra, while also leading commercial arrangements like building an off-site private cloud with IBM and a virtual private cloud with Azure.
