Noviqtech, an Australian company that develops software platforms aiming to make sustainability and operational data traceable and verifiable, has announced that its recently acquired subsidiary Coralia has become an affiliate member of Data Centres Australia (DCA).

Coralia is an Australian Biochar Carbon Removal company building an institutional-grade portfolio of high-integrity Biochar Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) projects in the Great Barrier Reef catchment in North Queensland.

DCA was launched in November of last year, intending to become the national industry body representing Australia’s data centre sector.

DCA membership positions Coralia to pursue sustainable data centre construction partnerships and carbon removal opportunities in the data centre and AI hyperscaler sectors aligned with its CDR platform.

Through its affiliate membership of DCA, Coralia intends to engage directly with developers, operators and construction partners; participate in data centre sustainability and embodied carbon working groups; and position biochar-based solutions within data centre procurement and decarbonisation strategies.

Noviqtech executive director and Coralia MD Timothy Brooks said the data centre sector represents a high-growth infrastructure market with increasing focus on both embodied carbon reduction and high-integrity carbon dioxide removal.

"Joining Data Centres Australia as an affiliate member provides Coralia with strategic access to key decision-makers across the data centre ecosystem," he said.

"We believe biochar offers a differentiated solution in decarbonising cement used in data centre construction while also delivering durable carbon removal aligned with data centre operator and AI hyperscaler net zero commitments.”

Belinda Dennett, CEO of Data Centres Australia, said Coralia is well aligned to the goals of Data Centres Australia - to be a leader in sustainable data centre development and to ensure Australia is at the forefront of technical innovation.

"We look forward to Coralia's engagement and input to support our sector on practicable pathways towards decarbonisation," she said.
