Anthony Turco, business leader for identity and security management at Novell APAC told CRN that the single sign-on feature is typically offered in supplementary federated identity products
The product leverage’s the vendor’s technical collaboration with Microsoft, Novell Access Manager 3.1 offers support for Web Service Federation, one of the Web Services- standard set of interoperable access and authentication standards.
“As a result, Novell Access Manager enables IT security administrators to grant non-Windows directory users, partners or organisations, single sign-on access to Microsoft web-based products such as Microsoft Office SharePoint,” he said.
“[The product] suits the requirements of businesses that require secure single sign-on, remote access via Secure Sockets Layer Virtual Private Network.
“It uses a wide range of standards such as those from Microsoft, The Liberty Alliance and OASIS.”
Turco claimed the product suits end-users that require Web security, Web and non Web single sign-on, Web Services Federation with internal and external business partners, from a single administrative console
Novell’s product will be available through its accredited partner network.
“[The vendor’s] reseller and integrated channel specialises in Identity and Security,” said Turco.
“These resellers will find benefit in Access Manager's enhanced support for Web Federation Standards such as Liberty Alliance, Security Assertion Markup Language and now Web Services Federation.”
Specific reseller margins for the product weren’t available.
Turco said partner margins are a function of the Novell Partner programs and are not product specific.
“All Novell Identity and Security products have continuing maintenance and support contracts,” he said.
