Technology firm New Relic has appointed Simon Lee as senior vice president and managing director of Asia-Pacific and Japan to drive regional expansion.

Lee joins the company with extensive technology sector leadership experience, having previously served as vice president of Asia Pacific and Japan at Gigamon.

His career includes senior roles at Oracle, Fluke Networks, SAP, and Seagate Technology.

"New Relic is a proven market leader in the observability space with a strong and growing customer base, innovative product, and incredible team," Lee said.

"The Asia-Pacific region is culturally diverse and highly customer-centric with endless potential for growth," Chris Jones, New Relic chief revenue officer, said.

Operating from Singapore, Lee will work alongside an established leadership team including Jason Leonidas, vice president of South Pacific sales, and Rob Newell, vice president of customer adoption.

New Relic has experienced significant regional growth, particularly in Japan, Australia, and India.

The company's Indian presence has expanded substantially since opening its Bengaluru office in March 2022, with team growth of approximately 400 per cent in 2024.

The company's observability platform helps businesses optimise operations, reduce cloud costs, and enhance customer experiences during their digital transformation efforts.

Lee's appointment comes as regional cloud spending is forecast to grow at 17.3 per cent annually, reaching US$329.1 billion by 2027, according to IDC's Asia Pacific Whole Cloud Forecast.
