NetBox Blue goes 3G to recover Internet failure

The UTM service provider will now be able to use PipePlus technology to 'failover' to an Optus 3G mobile broadband connection if a company's internet link is severed.

John Fison, chairman at NetBox Blue, said PipePlus is a feature on the NetBox that gives companies inexpensive access to multiple internet links.

"If there's an internet failure, PipePlus migrates traffic to another link, without any user intervention," he said.

"PipePlus provides load balancing between multiple links and includes a traffic shaping module that enables a business to prioritise applications or particular types of data."

Fison said, internet links fail and it's an inconvenient fact of life.

"Businesses in Queensland will recall the massive disruption caused to the entire state when a fibre optic link was severed by contractors on the Gold Coast last year," he said.

"An incident like this is unavoidable but it doesn't have to bring down the whole business."

The NetBox provides a suite of features to secure a company's network.
