NEC Computers has dumped its line of Packard-Bell desktop products - sold through Harvey Norman - citing the range of PCs weren't in line with its "digital home" strategy.
Tim Falinski, general manager sales and marketing, NEC Computers said NEC has been phasing out the Packard Bell name since early this year.
“We have been restricting the sale of Packard Bell home desktops. The last product we sold was through our direct retail partner Harvey Norman, in January,” he said.
“All our products have been rebranded and are now under the NEC banner and we are looking at bringing out a range of products geared towards the digital home market. Packard-Bell products were not what we termed as converged products.”
He said Packard Bell customers continue to be supported under existing warranty conditions and will receive support from NEC’s help desk.
NEC acquired Packard Bell in 2000.
