NCR has enticed employees with incentives to push through NCR/Australian Services Union (ASU) Enterprise Agreement with a majority vote.
After seven days of strike action, the workers stopped striking and came back to the table, said Sally McManus, secretary, Australian Services Union.
“NCR agreed to give low wage earners a nine percent pay increase; higher wage earners will get a five percent increase. The company also agreed to roster days off and an improved car allowance. Around 98 percent of the workers on strike agreed to the new terms,” she said.
A representative from NCR disputes the number of strike days, claiming the strike was settled in threed days. NCR also disagrees with the ASU's figures and said all its custom engineers received a three percent wage increase across the board. Its employees agreed to the enterprise agreeemnent on the 5th of April 2006.
NCR will now lodge the agreement with the Office of the Employment Advocate(OEA) within the next two weeks. The Enterprise Agreement will come into effect the day it was lodged and once lodged, the OEA will issue NCR with a receipt in respect of the lodgement to bring a conclusion to the negotiations.
