MSY Technology plans 30 shops by year end

PC manufacturer and reseller MSY Technology plans to open six shop fronts by the end of year to bring its national total to 30.

The first of the six ventures will be the opening of its Canberra shop by the end of the month.

MSY business development manager Alex Surdonjic told CRN that low prices and strong hardware sales are driving the "growth spurt.

"It's the number of people buying laptops and desktop PCs," he said. The company was able to sustain the growth "by keeping the pricing down," he said.

Surdonjic said that the majority of MSY customers are "small and medium businesses that walk off the street.

"We also have a number of private and independent schools where we offer 30 day accounts to," he said.

MSY manufactures its own branded desktops and high-end gaming machines. It also partners with brands such as ASUS to resell notebooks and other IT products.

Meanwhile, MSY has announced that it has outsourced its warranty services division to National Warranty Services (NWS) to strengthen its focus on its hardware sales.

Surdonjic said it will reduce freight costs for the end-users and provide better service.

"The biggest problem for us was that we would build the system and the customers would return it to us.

"We would receive it and put a technician on to it at no cost to fix it. That would take a couple of days depending on where the customer was [located].

"Some of their [end-user] freight charges were in excess of $100," he said.

"With NWS, the technician goes to the customer with the parts and repairs it," he said.

The warranty and service is an additional cost option on top the manufactures warranty and MSY's 12-month return to base warranty, he said.
