With $9.3 million worth of fines collected last year in NSW alone, drivers can no longer afford to risk their hip pocket or more importantly, the safety of themselves and others.
Drivers who continue to ignore the law will be hit with a fine of more than $240 for using their mobile phone while driving.
According to data obtained under Freedom of Information, the total fines for mobile phone users in New South Wales alone jumped by 65 percent to $9.3 million in 2007-08.
Australian mobile accessory distributor, Cellnet, has launched a new product, the Free2Talk BC900, onto the retail market which enables drivers to meet the current law standards, and could reduce their risk of being fined and involved in road incidents caused by mobile phone use.
The product is the first to use solar power to recharge, alleviating the need for distracting cables hanging from the car visor while recharging.
