Microsoft has revealed the 13 Australian startups that will take part in its ScaleUp startup program in Sydney, seven months after it debuted at the Sydney Startup Hub in February.
The startups are Auror, Daisee, FreightExchange, Hyper Anna, InDebted, Kapiche, Karbon, Makers Empire, Teamgage, SimpleKYC, StartVR, VendorPanel and Winimy AI.
The program officially kicked off yesterday with a week-long intensive course with Microsoft, held at the Microsoft Reactor in the Sydney Startup Hub.
“We are deeply impressed by the diversity of our first batch of startups and the ways in which they are each bringing innovative and industry leading solutions to their respective markets,” Microsoft for Startups ANZ managing director Emily Rich said.
“The cohort represents a broad cross section of enterprise focused technology startups with a particular focus on artificial intelligence and platforms that help companies improve customer experience.
“However, the central theme that ties them all together is their growth mindset, customer obsession and products which we believe will build lasting value.”
Auror works with police and communities to prevent and solve crime in real-time by collaborating and sharing data on criminal activity; while Daisee, Kapiche and Wiminy AI provide various AI solutions for customer service.
FreightExchange is a marketplace for long-distance freight carriers looking to sell excess capacity; HyperAnna is an AI-powered data analyst; InDebted is a debt collection platform; and Karbon develops software for accounting firms that helps improve workflow efficiency, standardising practice processes and automating tasks.
Makers Empire helps STEM educators with 3D printing and design tools with easy-to-use 3D modelling software; SimpleKYC provides automation for businesses and meeting anti-money laundering ‘know your customer’ (KYC) requirements; and StartVR specialises in custom branded virtual reality apps.
Teamgage is a tech platform for continuous improvement within an organisation and VendorPanel gives procurement teams tools to manage decentralised sourcing below tender threshold.
Sydney is the eighth city to host the Microsoft ScaleUp Program, joining the likes of Bangalore, Beijing, Berlin, London, Seattle, Shanghai and Tel Aviv.
The four-month program aims to support startups with global expansion as well as product development, which include coaching, talent recruitment, creating distribution channels, among others.
