Update: Microsoft has confirmed to CRN Australia that "Copilot for Microsoft 365 is now available to Australian SMEs with eligible Microsoft 365 licenses."
Microsoft has announced in the US that is has removed the 300-seat purchase minimum for Copilot for Microsoft 365 among several updates that expand availability to small to medium-sized businesses.
Businesses with one to 299 seats can now use Copilot via a US$30 per month subscription ($44.90 in Australia).
The US announcement also stated that commercial customers including small and medium-sized businesses can now purchase Copilot for Microsoft 365 through Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider partners (CSPs).
CRN Australia has contacted Microsoft to ask about Australian availability.
Made available to select customers in November, Copilot previously required businesses to pay thousands of dollars per month for a minimum of 300 users.
Microsoft has also scrapped the Microsoft 365 prerequisite for Copilot, making it available to Office 365 E3 and E5 customers, and has extended Semantic Index for Copilot to Office 365 users with a paid Copilot license.
New features added with this launch include Copilot GPTs, a mobile app and Copilot in the Microsoft 365 mobile app.
In addition to these updates, Microsoft announced the launch of the Copilot Pro subscription for individuals.
“Small and medium-sized businesses are the heart of every community and the lifeblood of local economies,” Microsoft's corporate VP, modern work and business applications Jared Spataro said.
“They have an outsized impact on the world and markets they support — in the United States, this category accounts for 99.9% of business and employs nearly half of the workforce.”
“These businesses stand to gain the most from this era of generative AI—and Copilot is uniquely suited to meet their needs.”
"Copilot for Microsoft 365 can help reduce this daily grind, giving business owners valuable time back to focus on what matters most: growing their business."
