Meridian IT deploys Lenovo servers for eHealth NSW

Managed services provider Meridian IT has been selected to provide eHealth NSW with Lenovo servers in a contract worth $847,000.

Meridian IT will deploy Lenovo x3850 X6 rack servers, originally part of IBM's System x range, to the NSW Government Data Centres.

The recently updated NSW Data Centre Reform Strategy, first adopted in December 2013, dictates a consolidation of all NSW government agencies' data centres into the Government Data Centres' two facilities in Silverwater and Wollongong. This plan supports the delivery of as-a-service adopted across the agencies.

Because IBM, which sold its x86 server business to Lenovo in 2014, had previously supplied servers to the department, eHealth requested a quote from the vendor. IBM sent the request to top partner Meridian IT, which in turn provided prices for Lenovo servers, according to a spokesperson.

Included in the contract are the installation of the servers, support, maintenance and software subscriptions. According to eHealth, Lenovo has certified that it provided Meridian IT with the best price.

CRN contacted Meridian IT but had not received a response at the time of writing.

In 2015, Meridian IT was recognised by IBM for 'marketing excellence' at the vendor's Partner World conference. Meridian IT Australia is a 2016 CRN MVP, boasting top-level relationships with IBM, Lenovo, Microsoft and NetApp.
