Mercury IT doubles revenue by rolling up three resellers

Mercury IT has rebranded as Mercury Technology Solutions after leading the merger of two other Queensland resellers, Divest IT and LC9.

Divest IT was an infrastructure-as-a-service provider and custom app-integrator, while LC9 provided hosted desktop services.

Staff from Divest IT and LC9 have moved into Mercury’s Gold Coast office, bringing on an additional 14 staff to create a 38-staff company.

Mercury scored an additional 80 customers through the merger, which kicked off 12 months ago.

The merger helped Mercury nearly double revenue, from $4.5 million in the 2014 financial year to $8.5 million in 2015.

Managing partner Luke Halliday told CRN that Mercury IT had been looking to expand its networking services via a merger, and had already been referring customers to Divest IT and LC9.

“Our companies had a similar culture, so we decided we’d merge to become an end-to-end solutions provide,” said Halliday. “We wanted to be able to do more than look after their network. Now we can look after their physical computers and all the way through to their cloud services.”

Halliday said the company is in a consolidation phase, and would be making a “significant investment” in rebuilding its cloud platform.

“After we did the merger, our priority continues to be customer service,” said Halliday. “We’ve been focusing on the merger over the last 12 months, so we’ve slowed down and not taken on any new customers.”

Mercury IT was founded in 2004 by directors Luke Halliday and AJ Williams. The company has appeared in the CRN Fast50 twice, coming in at No.5 in 2010 and No.10 in 2013.
