Seasoned Australian technology executive Joe Locandro, who has more than 25 years of international experience, has been appointed as executive vice president and chief information officer at global enterprise software support provider Rimini Street.

The Melbourne-educated executive will lead the company's global IT operations, enterprise systems strategy and technology innovation initiatives as the firm continues its worldwide expansion.

Locandro brings extensive leadership experience across multiple sectors, having previously held senior technology roles at major organisations including Fletcher Building, BP, Cathay Pacific and Emirates.

Most recently, he served as CIO of Fletcher Building, one of New Zealand's largest listed companies.

"Having personally experienced the value and expertise of Rimini Street's engineering capability, dedication to client success was a compelling motivation to join the Rimini team," Locandro said.

The Australian executive, who holds economics and commerce degrees from the University of Melbourne and a graduate diploma in marketing from Monash University, emphasised the importance of flexibility in technology as a winnin gstrategy.

"Rimini Street empowers organisations to evolve at their own pace and I'm looking forward to strengthening the systems, security and scalability that underpin that promise across our global operations," Locandro said.

Seth Ravin, chief executive of Rimini Street, highlighted the importance of Locandro's appointment as the company scales its platform to support more clients worldwide.

"Joe's leadership will play a pivotal role in enhancing our global IT systems, infrastructure and cybersecurity operations," Ravin said.

Locandro has completed executive studies at Stanford University's Graduate School of Business in the United States, and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

He has also served on the board of SITA, the international telecommunications organisation for the aviation industry.

He will be based in Rimini Street's Asia-Pacific region and report directly to the chief executive.
