Source Central Partners has acquired Melbourne startup XLR8, bringing in Juniper expertise.
Michael Shipley, the founder of XLR8, will join Source Central as a senior engineer with a specific brief to grow the reseller's footprint in the enterprise and data centre space.
Brendan Redpath, Source Central's chief executive, told CRN: "The main partner is very highly skilled in Juniper. We don't have Juniper skillset in our business.
"They also have a number of solid clients under their belt, [including] outsourcing for a national IT provider doing onsite work and a couple of not-for-profits."
According to the XLR8 website, it counts Amnesty International among its clients.
Multiple Fast50 company Source Central is currently a Cisco house; Redpath said that adding Juniper expertise would let it pitch as a "vendor-agnostic" provider.
"It can make us more attractive to clients who are looking for a relatively agnostic approach. It gives us the opportunity to supply a different solution if required. Or it allows us to work with clients who already have Juniper in their network."
Source Central's strongest suit is primary and secondary education. As well as growing its enterprise focus with the XLR8 acquisition, it is also pushing into the tertiary sector with a new senior account manager, said Redpath.
XLR8 also brings a webstore, which will be rebranded as part of the deal.
