Melbourne NBN provider Boom Broadband sold to Sky Muster reseller Activ8me

NBN satellite reseller Activ8me has acquired fellow Melbourne-based NBN provider Boom Broadband for an undisclosed amount.

As part of the deal, Activ8me absorbed all of Boom’s customers while expanding its current NBN fixed line and fixed wireless offerings, as well as its ADSL2+ offerings.

The deal was announced on Activ8me’s website, and according to a user on Whirlpool forums, Boom’s customers were notified by email last month.

“Activ8me were our preferred provider when it came time to sell Boom Broadband so we are thrilled that our customers will be with an Australian provider of such quality,” Boom Broadband director Phillip Pratt said.

“Boom Broadband has worked closely with Activ8me to ensure your service migrates smoothly onto the Activ8me network. This work has now been completed so you can expect your experience of the NBN to be further improved once you move onto the new network.”

Boom Broadband commenced operations in 2012 selling both ADSL2+ and NBN internet services, marketing itself as a low-cost ISP with plans ranging from $45 to $95 per month.

Activ8me meanwhile specialises in satellite internet, starting out as a provider for rural, regional and remote Australian communities.
