Melbourne IT to acquire digital marketing firm WME Group for $39 million

Melbourne IT has announced a proposed $39 million acquisition of digital marketing solutions provider WME Group.

WME Group provides search engine optimisation (SEO), advertising and web design. Brands within the group include WME, Nothing But Web and Results First.

According to a statement from Melbourne IT, the acquisition strengthens its managed marketing capabilities.

Chief executive Martin Mercer said: "WME Group is a logical and strong strategic fit with Melbourne IT, where managed marketing solutions are now the growth engine for our SMB division."

Melbourne IT expects average revenue per user to increase at faster rates, driven by the increase in SEO capability and advanced customer account management.

WME has offices in Melbourne and Auckland, New Zealand.

In August 2016, Melbourne IT announced the consolidation of three data centres following four acquisitions in the previous years. The company acquired Netregistry in 2014 and Uber Global in 2015, which were followed by Outware Systems in 2015 and InfoReady in 2016.

The publicly listed IT provider has offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
