Melbourne-headquartered Viatek connects Ballarat to AWS, Azure, Google clouds

Print reseller-turned-MSP Viatek has built a dedicated carrier-grade network connecting Melbourne and Ballarat to extend its services to the regional city, allowing businesses in the area to migrate to the cloud and transition away from legacy on-premises technology.

The network is the first implementation of Viatek’s Connected Regions program, establishing a permanent point of presence in Ballarat and surrounding areas.

The initiative is powered by Viatek’s Viafly connectivity service, a pay-as-you-go offering that can connect businesses to Viatek’s private cloud, Microsoft Azure, AWS or Google Cloud individually or as a multi-cloud mix.

“We’ve connected a dedicated, carrier-grade network with massive bandwidth between Ballarat and Melbourne,” Viatek national sales director James Veness said.

“It’s about extending our existing, core capabilities and bringing Ballarat world-class IT infrastructure, full cloud capabilities and technology support from the best of the best nationally,”

The technology is also coupled with SD-WAN capabilities powered by VMWare’s VeloCloud, which helps speed up provisioning, improve performance, and better ability to provide remote services.

Viatek is also leveraging its platinum and gold partner status with vendors such as Microsoft, HP, WatchGuard and Access4.

“Eighty percent of the support we can provide remotely, via a centrally managed national 24/7 service team, complemented by local on-site staff in Ballarat," Veness said.

“This way, with Viatek, you can be sure that your issue is being taken care of, so you can get back to focusing on your business.”
