Melbourne cybersec startup NetCrypt strikes Hosted Network partnership

Sydney cloud provider Hosted Network has partnered up with Melbourne-based security startup NetCrypt to provide a “file server in the cloud” solution.

NetCrypt founder Regan McKay said the partnership suited companies looking to retire on-premises servers and cloud-enable their infrastructure.

“Ensuring data is securely accessed from multiple devices is a common concern for organisations and with the data breach notification laws coming into force in Australia in February this year. This has heightened this concern," Mckay said.

“Our strategy is to partner with cloud hosting providers that deliver quality storage and understand the challenges organisations face, and hosted network is one of the experts in delivering these requirements."

NetCrypt offers data protection via 256-bit encrypted vaults that are only accessible to authenticated users via NetCrypt software. IT or management can prevent access beyond the firewall and on personal devices without the need for an internet connection, according to the company.

Hosted Network chief executive Ben Town said NetCrypt was “exactly the solution” channel partners had been asking for around data security.

“To date in order to deliver suitable protection we’ve had to combine multiple products which don’t necessarily natively integrate and often comes at a large expense, which has meant that smaller end customer have in many cases chosen not to implement recommended security solutions,” he said.

NetCrypt was recognised during the 2017 CRN Impact Awards, coming away with a Commended nod in the IP category for its data security product. Last year, the vendor had already attracted an early channel partner in the form Superloop-owned IT provider BigAir Group.
