The education services organisation, Editure, has sold its Darwin Commercial Services business to members of the existing management group.
“The management buyout provides the opportunity for the business to continue to operate in its current form and to seek to expand its presence in the Northern Territory commercial market,” said Joe Ewart, vice chairman and chief executive officer of Editure.
“At the same time, we also believe that a business owned directly by management represents the best long-term future for the business.”
The newly formed management group, Area9 IT Solutions, paid an undisclosed amount in the deal. Led by Mary McAlpine, John Politis and Chris Coleman, the partners will continue to operate the business as an IT infrastructure services firm, with its focus directed to the Northern Territory commercial market.
“We are delighted to continue to serve, support and grow our territory client base and the local IT industry,” said John Politis. He also commented that this acquisition is a good opportunity for Area9 IT to build on the progress made by Editure in the last 20 years.
Following the buyout, Editure will concentrate on its core education services business with plans to expand both in Australia and the United States. Earlier this year, Editure acquired A.U.S.S.I.E, a professional development provider for teachers in the US.
The company is most notably recognised for providing teaching and learning solutions for the K-12 sector. Finalisation of the sale agreement and completion of the transaction are predicted to occur by the end of the year.
