M2M One, a Semtech company, has launched a dedicated IoT eSIM service in partnership with Telstra.
M2M One specialise in industrial IoT data, providing connectivity and managed data services for 850,000+ machines and devices, nationally and internationally.
They are the first Australian IOT reseller to offer eSIM’s on the Telstra network.
M2M One’s eSIMs will operate on Telstra’s nationwide 4G/5G, LTE-M and NB-IoT networks and will be supported by the carrier’s enterprise management portal – providing organisations with full control and live visibility of the health and performance of each eSIM in its fleet.
eSIMs eliminate physical SIM swaps, a process M2M claimed means device deployment times can be reduced from weeks to days and more efficient over-air provisioning can subsequently lower fields costs and future-proof devices by allowing them to be updated remotely.
M2M will work with existing and new customers to transition their SIM fleets to eSIM whilst still offering the traditional embedded and typical SIM options.
M2M One’s eSIM service includes rapid SIM activation, nationwide coverage, including Band 28 for rural and in-building penetration, and dedicated local support via M2M One’s local engineering, billing and compliance teams.
Enterprise-grade options will also include secure APN, static IP, and data pooling.
“eSIM is quickly becoming the global standard for IoT at scale — but until now, Australian enterprises haven’t offered a local, carrier-grade solution designed for their needs,” says Kat Dempsey, senior director for revenue and services, APAC at Semtech.
“We are proud to partner with Telstra to bring this new offering to market. And with this launch, be able to make eSIM capability accessible to sectors for whom speed of deployment, cost and the ability to future-proof their SIM fleets is critical, we are committed to ensuring we remain agile, respond well to market demands as well as technical advancements."
The launch builds on M2M One’s introduction of its satellite IoT service for remote industries in June.
In September, M2M Connectivity launched an IoT service for the solar industry in Australia and New Zealand.
