CSC has picked up a three-year, $15 million contract with LeasePlan Australia to provide IT services to 30 of the car fleet manager's global subsidiaries.
The global IT outsourcer won the deal following a “rigorous review process” that saw LeasePlan travel to competing vendors’ offshore sites to view each operation. LeasePlan’s general manager of business information services Kyle Malligan said an Indian offshore option was offered by most of the outsourcing contenders.
“We came away from this experience very encouraged by the depth of process, knowledge management and technical capability of the individuals that we met,” Malligan said.
“An improvement over the past three to four years of the offshoring model was very evident.”
But LeasePlan was swayed to CSC "on the strength of their onshore SAP presence here in Australia”, said Malligan who, according to his LinkedIn profile, was formerly LeasePlan's implementation manager.
LeasePlan previously provided its own applications management support with aid of consultants. Malligan said the CSC deal would be an equal split between staff in Australia and India but key leaders would stay onsite in Melbourne while external consultant numbers would decline.
CSC will provide SAP enterprise resource planning application managed support services and minor enhancements. CSC’s operations manager Barrie Cullen said support was the focus of the engagement.
“We had the delivery team that should have been successful, the delivery team that was going to be involved and engaged up front with the client,” Cullen said.
“They were in a position to build relationships prior to any sort of contract.”
