Lanier buys Inspire IT

Document management provider Lanier has acquired IT services provider Inspire IT for an undisclosed sum.

Lanier managing director John Hall said the move would benefit both organisation’s customers.

“We’re often the first port of call when a customer has an IT problem,” said Hall, in a statement. “However the solution is often found in the network infrastructure, rather than in the device itself.”

Hall said the deal, effective immediately, will see the two organisations merged, with a total workforce of 300 employees. The merged entity will also have 6000 customers across Australia.

According to Hall, the overall needs of Lanier’s customers saw the company begin a search for a service provider partner over a year ago. Ten companies were evaluated, and while Inspire IT wasn’t on the market at the time, the synergy between the two organisations was readily apparent.

“The timing was perfect for a merger,” he said.

Inspire IT’s founder, Alan Burt, will take a role in the merged company as chief technology officer.

“We were at a stage where if we were to grow we needed significant capital investment,” Burt said, in a statement. “This merger will allow both companies to grow at a faster rate than we would have operating separate businesses.”
