Kogan has revealed its cheapest smartphone yet, the Agora 6 priced at $179.
The device is powered with a 1.3GHz octacore processor, 2GB of RAM and runs on the Android 5.1 operating system. It comes with 16GB of storage with the option to expand up to 64 GB with micro SD, an 8MP rear camera and 5MP front-facing camera.
Agora 6 is fitted with a 5-inch screen and weighs 134 grams. It also features 4G dual SIM card capability.
Kogan product manager Russell Proud said he thinks customers will be surprised when they see the quality of the budget device: “We know Aussies want a full feature smartphone without having to spend half a month’s pay."
“At the same time, we’re hearing people are frustrated with other big brands for locking down their phones and not including features that offer flexibility like dual SIM cards, MicroSD storage, and removable batteries,” said Proud.
Kogan had partnered with Taiwanese vendor BenQ to enter the budget smartphone market in 2014. Its last new release was the Agora 4G Pro for $299 in July 2015. Kogan also sells the Agora 4G+ for $279 and the Agora Lite for $89.
The Agora 6 is available to pre-order from Kogan’s website now and begins shipping on 12 April.
